Inguinal Hernia

There is a weakness on either side of the groin area called the inguinal canal. In this area can develop a hernia, which describes an opening in the abdominal wall which abdominal contents, such as the intestine, can herniate through. Inguinal hernias are currently fixed with either open, or more recently, laparoscopic technique. A mesh is usually involved, and the surgery is usually ambulatory.
