Five ways to relieve groin pain
Stretching is one of the best ways to relieve groin pain. Doing this regularly will help relieve the tension within the muscles, thus allowing for a reduction of the pain. Stretching should never be done for too long and it shouldn’t cause any more pain than what is already being experienced.
Light stretching may help relieve some of the pain in the groin area and it can also loosen the tension up that may be causing the pain.
Applying compression to the pained area in the groin can be helpful to reduce the amount of pain that one is in. Just like with stretching, compression can also help relieve the area of the tension that might be occurring which could be causing the pain.
Repeated, but not constant, compression can help the area to loosen up which over time should relieve the groin area of the pain that it is feeling.
Ice is a great way to relieve groin pain and it is pretty much harmless. Using an ice pack or taking an ice bath can help relieve the tension and pain that is occurring in the groin area. It is important to not overdo using ice so that freezing or hypothermia does not occur but using an ice pack in increments can be very helpful when trying to relieve the pain.
Just like with ice, heat can also be used to relieve groin pain but it must be done in shorter increments than that of ice. Heat is a great way to relieve pain in the groin area. Heat can be used through hot washcloths or heating pads which will both work the same. Tension will loosen up and help the muscles in the groin area to relax which should reduce the amount of pain that one is experiencing.
Another way to relieve groin pain is to simply take a medication that will reduce pain and inflammation or even a muscle relaxer. Pain relievers can be accessed over the counter and taken in moderation, but muscle relaxers have to be prescribed by a doctor.
Pain in the groin area shouldn’t last terribly long, so it is typically advised to take an over-the-counter medication.
